Alternative Lyme Disease Treatment

Lyme Disease treatment

When I decided to pick a few wild raspberries at the back end of our property, the words Lyme Disease treatment never entered my mind. Well, at least not until my neighbor hollered them out to me. At first, I wasn’t even sure if I heard him right.

“Excuse me?” I raised one eyebrow at him. “Did you say something about Lyme Disease treatment?”

He smirked at me in his wicked way. “I just said not to worry about the ticks because I have the perfect Lyme Disease treatment.”

Ticks! I just wanted to pick a few berries in my backyard. I wasn’t sure how picking berries had led to a discussion on Lyme Disease Treatment, but with my neighbor, I often find myself discussing all sorts of odd topics.

“Just what is this Lyme Disease Treatment?” I asked, not really sure that I wanted to know.

“Bees!” He chortled with glee.

“Bees?” My other eyebrow shot up. “As in the kind that gives us honey?” For the life of me, I couldn’t imagine what bees had to do with ticks or how they could provide a Lyme Disease treatment. Did he want me to slather honey on any tick bite I might get?

He took off his hat and scratched his balding head. “I read in a magazine that a lot of folks are using this thing called bee sting therapy to cure their ailments. One fella picked up Lyme Disease from a tick bite when he was hunting and he tried the beestings as a Lyme Disease treatment and it cured him.”

“He let a bunch of bees sting him to cure a tick bite?” I shook my head at the irony.

“Yeah.” My neighbor laughed. “Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? But I figure that I have a bunch of bees in my hives and in a pinch, they could come in handy.”

“Well.” I tried not to shudder as I thought of my neighbor unleashing his hoard of bees on someone as a Lyme Disease treatment. “I guess that is good to know, but I am allergic to bees, so I guess if I get bit by a tick I will have to try a more conventional Lyme Disease treatment.”

“Suit yourself.” He shrugged and walked back toward his barn.

I shook my head and started to head to the berry bramble. Then I got a picture of those bees swarming around me in some alternative Lyme Disease Treatment and I thought better of the plan. I decided to let the birds have the berries this year.
